BITUMEN TESTING INSTRUMENTS

Bitumen Extractor

Bitumen Extractor
ASTM D-2172. AASHO T-58, T-164. For the determination of Bitumen percentage in bituminous mixtures. It has a removable precision- machined aluminium rotor bowl mounted on a vertical shaft. A filter paper disc is pressed in between the rotor bowl and cover plate by tightening a knurled nut. The bowl assembly is enclosed in a housing mounted on a cast body. The manually operated unit can be used both in the field and laboratory. In the manually operated unit, the gears are enclosed in a cast body. The solvent may be introduced tests through a cup on the housing cover.

Electrically Operated. Suitable for operation on 230 volts, 50 HZ, single phase, A.C. supply. Rest operation same as above.

Ductility Testing Machine

Ductility Testing Machine
Electrically operated and designed to test three specimens simultaneously. The machine consists of a carriage moving over a lead screw. An electric motor driven reduction gear unit ensures smooth constant speed and continuous operation. The entire assembly is mounted with a copper lined water bath completely encased in metal bound hardwood. It is equipped with an electric pump circulator and heater. The temperature is controlled thermostatically. Two rates of travel i.e. 5 cm/min and 1 cm/min are provided. Suitable for operation on 230 V, 50 Hz, Single Phase, AC supply.
We offer the following type for the ductility also.
  • Ductility Testing Machine, electrically Operated
Digital indicator is provided for temp. indication.
  • Ductility Testing Machine, electrically Operated
It is fitted with refrigerated compressor and working temperature range 10 -30 Deg. C.
  • Ductility Testing Machine, electrically Operated, (Auto reverse facility)
D.C. direct drive motor maintains constant speed, entirely vibration-free. Speeds of 1 or 5cm per minute are selected via lever shift on mechanical gearbox. Single brass lead screw mounted above water level prevents agitation of water and premature rupture of specimens.

Extra Accessories
  • Ductility Mould Brass plate
  • Ductility Mould Aluminum plate
  • Elastic recovery mould Brass plate

Marshall Apparatus

Marshall Apparatus
For the measurement of the resistance to plastic flow of cylindrical specimens of bituminous pouring mixture loaded on the lateral surface. This is for use with hot mixture containing asphalt or tar and aggregate up to 25 mm maximum size.
The equipment comprises of following:
  • Three specimens cylindrical mould 100 mm dia
  • Three base plates.
  • Three collars 100 mm dia.
  • Two compaction hammers, 10 lbs. Weight, with 45 cm drop.
  • One specimen extractor.
  • One compaction pedestal complete with specimen holder.
  • One breaking head assembly. Complete with dial micrometer and bracket for flow measurement.
  • One load transfer bar.
  • One loading unit, motorized, with travel of 50 mm/min and fitted with motor, reversing switch and limit switches to restrict the travel. Fitted with hand wheel for finer adjustment to bring the proving ring in contact with breaking head assembly, capable of application of loads up to 5000 kg. Suitable for operation from Main supply 230 volts, 50 cycles, single phase, A.C..
  • Proving ring of 5000 kg (50 K.N.)
  • Dial gauge .01 mm x 25 mm travel.

Automatic Compactor for Bituminous Mixes

Automatic Compactor for Bituminous Mixes
  • Rugged construction to withstand hard work
  • Fully automatic and easy to operate
  • Uniform compaction
  • Automatic Blow Counter
The Automatic compactor eliminates the laborious process of manual compaction and an even degree of compaction is achieved. The drive mechanism lifts the weight of 4.5 kg and drops it through a correct height of 457 mm. The rammer foot is removable, which facilitates preheating.

A compaction pedestal with specimen holder is fixed to the base. An automatic blow counter enables the number of blows to be preset before each test and automatically stops the machine on completion. Suitable for operation on 230 V, 50 Hz, single phase, AC supply.

Universal Cone Penetrometer, Automatic

Universal Cone Penetrometer, Automatic
BIS: 1203, BIS: 310 (Part II).
For testing a wide variety of materials such as grease, bitumen, tar wax, polish, food stuffs, rubber, asphalt and pharmaceutical creams. By applying a given force over a given period of time depression is made in the sample which may be measured in tenths of a millimeter and expressed as a penetration number.

Consists of a head support, mounted on a vertical rod which can be adjusted for height. A rack and pinion and pointer provides fine adjustment of needle or cone tip to sample and incorporates a slipping clutch mechanism which makes reading of penetration and subsequent resetting a simple and accurate operation. The dia is graduated from 0-400 in one tenth millimeter subdivision. Complete with plunger and weight of 54 grams, with one needle.
Suitable for operation in 220 volts phase.

Standard Tar Viscometer
